I never did understand the alcohol thing. They drank wine in the Bible. Ya know, this my the blood that was shed....you get it. No, Christians are opposed to alcohol because most are recovering alcoholics. Hell, if it was not for the recovering drug addicts and alcoholics my church would not have a congregation.
