Are you sure you needed a starter?
I had a Tacoma and sometimes the starter would just "click" when I turned the key. Happened about once a month, then once a week, kept getting worse. Figured it needed a starter.
Took it to my local trusted shop, he told me it's common on those and Corollas. It's the nut that holds the positive started cable to the starter. It's not a ful nut, sorta a half-nut in bronze. (he showed it to me) He said they work loose over time and it's just a bad connection.
He tightened the nut and that fixed it. Told me it'd be $10 for putting it on the rack, I gave him $20.
