Notice that many don't actually have "American" in the US release title. It was added for the foreign versions or contained it in the working title.
So "Lords of Dogtown" becomes "American Knights" in England and the TV series "The Office" becomes "The Office: An American Workplace" in on the DVD set sold in Finland.
