Your logic is faulty. Valve cannot sell games that are never yours to own. The right term to describe Steam is a mechanism to rent games.
Thats all it is, nothing more nothing less.
And by the way, if you read Steam's TOS they are free to do whatever they want, even revoke your account and you have no recourse whatsoever. Enjoy "owning" games under Steam.
I just wish joe sixpack had a least a minimum understanding of just what Steam is.
