I've assumed that a lot of the far-out requests have been tongue in cheek, at least that's what I hope, otherwise we'll have some very disappointed players come mid next year.
I just hope that the devs implement wolfpacks, but in a way that's reflective of how they were actually used and not just to appease the number of people here who seem to think that in Nov 1939 there should be hundreds of u-boats zipping around convoys like hotrods, when in fact they weren't first used (effectively - I am aware of the Oct 1939 attempt) until Sep 1940 and were ceased by order of Doenitz in Nov 1943 as being ineffective. I know I won't want to be in a Wolfpack any time after 1942, as my likelihood of survival will be practically zero. I wonder how many people who are currently stamping their feet and refusing to buy the game if it doesn't have wolfpacks will be happy the first time they use their radio within a wolfpack only to be trounced by superior HuffDuff wielding escorts. Can't have the good without the bad.

I, though, will be very happy if this was the case for then I can breath a sigh of relief knowing that the devs haven't simply bowed to pressure.
I do really like how OneLifeCrisis put it in another thread: 'I'd rather have a good U-boat simulation than "Das Boot - the video game"', the latter certainly being where some people appear to be drawing their inspiration.
