the G7a which is your basic T1 torpedo of the german Kriegsmarine packed 280kg of Hexanite which packs a punch about 50-60% over equivelent TNT.

the american mk 14 carried 292kg of Torpex (guess what that stands for) torpex is 50% over regular TNT.

so all in all about the same punch for each torp.
the mk14 was as bad as the G7e (TII) for depth keeping and influence/magnetic detonations and the Pacific fleet command blamed the sub skippers for the duds and misses rather then the kit. JUST like the BDU did to the german captains.
