Visual range / draw distance in Sh4 was horrible, I'd rather have a smaller less realistic 16km atmosphere/Horizon line and actually be able to SEE masts and smoke on the horizon. Rather than have a 30-50km one where ships can only be rendered at around 20km  - that really REALLY killed SH4 for me.
We dont need to be able to see an extra 20km of 'just water', it is completely pointless.
I dont think an actual 'round world' is going to happen - but everything else is possible to do.

It doesn't really have to be spherical. But just appear so on the horizon locally. By that i mean that taller ships or it's smoke is partially hiding beneath the horizon if they are beyond the it. It would make a world of difference. Speaking litterally and figuratively.
I can live with the fact that the map is squarish and that the polar regions are stretched. I see no improvement if the player has to draw great-circle route. It just makes it more difficult to play with the drawing tools. Infact, displaying a really sperical map/globe detracts from the immersion that SH5 is supposed to improve, and certainly not in sync with the way navigators did their work historically. Maps have allways been flat on a table. They didn't have big globes in subs.
