Hey, that was the trick. That tutorial was just what I needed to get going. I had to turn on truth one time due to frustration. I would travel south, drop the hyrdophone and plot a target to the south. Then when i got near, I drop the hydro again only to find that the exact same plot was way to the north. I have no explanation for this. I know i chased that same plot at least 4 times back and forth from north to south. They were not close, just at complete opposite ends of the battle area. Maybe this was a bug, I dont know. Finally I just launched a torp along the path and it hit the target within a few miles, surprisingly not where the target showed up on the hydrograph plot thinghy. Nothing ever marked at that location.
