Please stop recommending this course of action. Using save-game profiles from previous versions is much like Russian Roulette.
You have simply been lucky thus far.
There is good (and complicated) reason why we do not recommend the course of action you continue to promote.
Muddying the waters for new GWX users causes much difficulty when it comes to user support... which is something you don't have to worry about when things go wrong.
New GWX users, and veterans upgrading from previous GWX releases should follow Jimbuna's directions here:

AND
Users should delete the "SH3" folder in "My Documents" to ensure complete removal of previous profiles and/or saved game data.
