I was originally using a VIIB and was doing fairly well with it, sinking over 300,000 tons of ships. I decided to try the XXI and now I'm spoiled on it. It's a beast! Last night however I decided to try the IXC and still managed to repeatedly attack a convoy and sink over 60,000 tons of shipping, so I know I've "still got it" and I'm not using the XXI as a crutch! I just love that lightning fast reload time and snorkel. The only thing I miss on the VII series is the deck gun for finishing off wounded or stranded vessels. Gotta use another torpedo.
