Personally I think this guy acted like an ass and probably should have been arrested.
Note the arrrest is for "loud and tumultious behaviour" and not breaking and entering.

Yeah, I think the guy was probably acting like an ass, but the officer should have left after verifying that particular ass actually lived there.
One thing they never mention when they highlight that minorities are often singled out and stopped by police: minorties commit a much higher percentage of crime in relation to their percentage of the population.
The cop was just trying to do his job, if Gates would have simply cooperated, there would have been no problem.
I was really surprised to see Mr. Cool unload on the Cambridge police in his press conf.
