A CTD can occur due to thousands of potential causes unfortunately.
Try loading an already existing career and if that works, delete the faulty one.
If your 100% sure you haven't added anything since you last played, uninstall every mod and reintroduce them one at a time until you uncover the offending one.
If none of the above works, it looks like a fresh game installation I'm afraid.
