I am not going to flame but.....

1. Need to check the facts before speaking...
2. Need to be sensitive to who might work at USPS that might be offended at what is being said...particularly when the facts do not necessarily bear it out.
3. Does UPS and/or FEDEX deliver on Saturdays without an additional surcharge?
4. Sure there are some 5 day delivery places...have been for months now.
5. You mean the USPS lets mail sit for a full 24 hours? Well, that is NOT my personal experience...now if you mean that a scan on the package and the tracking information does not show it is moving...yep, that is true. However, that is because while UPS scans everything (barring human error) at each stage of the game, USPS did not used to and is having to catch up.

You got horror stories? I will believe it. But for each horror story you can come up with, I can come up with a person whose life was saved because a carrier called 911 concerned about the resident not picking up their mail, or how about the clerk who drove 98 miles one way just to deliver a halloween costume to a child on halloween day - the child was dying of lukemia and the shipper had mailed it with the wrong city, state, and zip code causing it to be misrouted.

How about the manager who drove 150 miles to personally deliver some medication - the medication had been shipped using a rival company but they somehow dropped it off at a USPS facility, it was Sunday, and the person had to have the meds.

I do not care what organization you talk about, you will find good and bad. However, behind that organization are real live people - and generally those people care about their work and are proud of what they do.

OH, by the way...5 day delivery does not mean it will take 5 days to get it there when it used to take 2 or 3. It means they are looking at only sending the carrier out on the street 5 days a week instead of the curent 6 (or I can even remember when it was 7) days a week.
