The liners used to rely on speed for protection rather than sitting in slow but protected convoys. If you have full realism on then targeting even a large ship moving at nearly 20 knots is difficult, and trying to manoeuvre in front of the ship for a shot is almost impossible.

Its funny but the SS Normandie and USS West point are never exceeding 10 knots where as the Titanic was flying at 18.
