Yep, after about the first week the fresh food ran out, then it was canned stuff. Was reading Reinhard Suhrens (U-564) comments on food. He said the bread molded up very fast, and they had to scrape it off constantly. And everything tasted like diesel oil (logical, as the boat was always full of diesel fumes..
