Sometimes, I really hate Fox News.

Don't get me wrong, I support some of their views, but they make it so damn easy for liberals to assault the conservative case (especially when it comes to social freedom issues)

I honestly think that they are undermined by their own mass-marketing approach. That may work fine if you're trying to sell a new line of t-shirts or something, but it simply will not stand up to the scrutiny of liberal intelligentsia. Not all liberals are idiots, and it only takes a handful of intelligent liberals to convince untold millions that the meritocracy of freedom is inferior to their egalitarian vision. (in that way, they are a bit like social conservatives)

Make no mistake, the current administration's policy of putting some high office of the nation in charge of particular sectors of public life and trade is a complete fallacy, but I wish that conservative media venues would take a bit more care when presenting their stances. Their arguments are too easily ripped apart.

Take this article, for instance. It makes the logical leap that Sunstein's views would be unilaterally supported by the Democratic administration, which is not the case. Whatever post he is appointed to, he will still have to answer to the legislature and the Supreme Court. I consider the fact that he has the power to even present his views with the sanction of the executive branch to be worrisome, but no liberal with a social-equality agenda is going to buy the argument that he is being granted "mind-boggling" powers. Similarly, no liberal of any kind worth his salt is going to see Fox's colorful rhetoric as anything other than right-wing propaganda.
Gag the internet!? Give me a break! That silly terminology alone could break the argument and turn liberals off to the conservative perspective, not to mention the implication that the liberal agenda is to keep people's feelings from being hurt. Had the good people at Fox taken a few moments to study liberal perspectives, they might know that there is a strong liberal belief in the idea that cultural perspective and stereotypes influence the nature of sub-culture within U.S. societies, a belief that is not unfounded, btw.

I hate to say it, but Fox is almost as biased as the liberal media claims it to be. I like the fact that they offer a different perspective, but their method of delivery is pathetic on many occassions. I agree with them most of the time, and even I find it easy to tear their points asunder. Their policy of preaching to the choir does very little to improve the conservative demographic, other than to strengthen it amongst conservatives who rely upon Fox for political perspective, and it drives swing voters away, a particularly worrisome thing when one considers apathy amongst the U.S. electorate. At least the liberal media is somewhat tactful and charismatic when it comes to bias(most of the time).

This horse**** practice of attacking the left with empty rhetoric has got to stop. The time for addressing the American desire for equality of opportunity needs to begin. The left needs to understand that their centralist economic policies will only ever defeat the purpose of a free nation. The right must understand that their social agenda defeats the purpose of even having a free nation. This is supposed to be a nation where one is free to excercise all the rigths of the individual, so long as one does not infringe upon or influence the rights of others without their consent. At what point did we forget that? At what point did the state take the responsibility of economic and moral welfare from us?

The one issue that is more vexacious to me than any other is the constant, unrelenting desire of people to impose their will upon others. Not only is it an excercise in futility, it is a breeding ground for violent conflict and the rise of unscrupulous persons to the top of social hierarchy. How many times must this be proven before it is learned?
Is it so much to ask that any one person accept the consequences of their own choices or refrain from imposing their own beliefs upon others?

The whole conservative-liberal rivalry makes me sick. People fail to see that their current political institutions are the result of years of party adaption to various popular causes, adaptions which were solely focused upon gaining power. Whether the desire to gain that power and the actions that were taken upon obtaining it are irrelevant. All of those years of political struggles still follow the age-old human concept of establishing permanent hierarchy, something that our Constitution was supposed to prevent. The universal human desire is for freedom and prosperity, and the state has consistently asked that people sacrifice the former in exchange for promise of the latter, a promise it never delivers.
