Like Kapt Z, my original dream was to be a fighter pilot (air force, not navy, though). Also like Kapt Z, that dream ended when I was 10. Poor eyesight in my case as well.
If I could go back and do it all over I'd finish college and be a history teacher, then a history professor, and maybe end up as a professional historian. And no, working on it now is practically out of the question, as I don't have the money for that kind of schooling and I've reached the age where even if I did go back to school, by the time I got certified it would be time to retire.
I am looking into the possibility of being a substitute high-school teacher, though. It takes a lot less time and money to get accredited.
