I lost a kill to my escort as we were leaving Salamis harbour yesterday. We had just gotten out into the bay when the watch crew spotted a Greek passenger/cargo ship. Raced over to sink her but by the time that we got there she was going down. Lost another one to our Italian "allies" just east of Malta too. I had intercepted a small convoy & was preparing to destroy a large cargo vessel when our "allies" turned up in the form of a small Axis convoy. The lead Italian destroyer engaged and destroyed the first British escort which made me think "Alright!
my job just got a whole lot easier." I had the cargo vessel all lined up when the Italian destroyer starts blasting away at it. I couldn't surface because there was another enemy escort vessel still around. By the time that I got within optimum firing range my target was going down.
