I still don't understand how to do it myself (me dummy), I have now MultiSH3 and wait for my son.

Still virgin?

Anyway ... thanks
Inderdaad, nederlands is mijn moedertaal, dus als je de nederlandse versie van het onderstaande wil (of gewoon meer uitleg) moet je me even een prive bericht sturen.

-----------------

Ok, back to English now.

Virgin is meant to be: installed, patched, but not modded! (ff weer in het nederlands: 'still virgin'='nog maagd' )

But since you allready have GWX3, and most likely played with it is far from being 'untouched'. I don't know what LSh3 is or how it needs to be installed. But I presume it doesn't go on top of GWX3. And that makes your situation difficult. But that much you knew allready.

All of our responses you got sofar expect there isn't ANY Sh3 installed on your system from the beginning. (or what was there is thuroughly un-installed/removed) So no wonder we are of no help. We are giving the wrong solution to the problem. GWX 3 must remain on your system.

I must admit I have never tried to install multiple Sh3 versions, so what MultiSh3 does exactly is a mistery. So please take the below with a big grain of salt.

A solution is perhaps to:

- temporily back-up (only the Patrol folder in 'My Documents' and the MODS folder is important I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong),

- then uninstall (to keep the Windows Registry clean) and remove what files and folders are left, (like it is advised in the GWX manual)

- reinstall and copy according to the procedures mentioned earlier using MultiSh3,

- then mod one copy back upto GWX 3 standards (identical to what you had before) as if nothing happend by adding back the mods you had in the MODS folder,

- then overwriting the Sh3 in 'MyDocuments' with the backed up profiles/savegames, setup Sh3 Commander again and go play GWX.

- with the other copy of the new SH3 folder install LSH3 as is needed (after 'switching over' with MultiSh3).

But I don't know exactly if that is possible without the risk of breaking some things. As said before, I need confirmation by others if I'm right.

Aside from that I initially thought you wanted to change the "C:\Program Files" folder into something like "C:\Renamed Program Files". That would really screw up your system, as other programs (virusscanner, MS Office or whatever you have installed) that are in there would also be unaccesible. A big NO-NO!. If you just wanted to rename that Sh3 folder that is inside the 'C:\Program Files\Ubisoft' folder then I see no problem in that. It temporarily disassociates (nl: 'ont-verenigd' is de juiste vertaling hoop ik) the Sh3 folder from the installation settings in Windows. Windows simply can't find it anymore, but the files are still there. It's temporarily since you can rename it back to what it was. Windows wouldn't have noticed a thing. But I see also not much use in that, since you need a Sh3 folder that doesn't have GWX in it. It works as a way to make a huge back up of everything, except that the folder in "My Documents" also needs to be saved backed up. And whatever settings are stored in the SH3Commander folder too.

I'm sorry I don't have a simple answer to your problem. Your requirement wanting to keep the current Sh3 folder intact or atleast functional makes it very difficult in my view.
