it happened that, intercepting a convoy on a clear calm night (1940), the watchman has spotted the convoy from over 12000 mt
, and the leading destroyer has spotted my just surfacing attack periscope (all stopped) from about a kilometer
(this doesn't seem to match that the sub may approach emerged less than a km away a cargo ship at night, remaining undetected, isn't it?)
that's the way it was or ....?
