She was offered to settle for about $3500.00 and chose to ignore it, but I do agree that the justice system far from perfect. It is also better than many others. This fine is meant to give warning to more organized piracy businesses that they can be forced to pay amounts that put them out of business, etc. Obviously she can't ever pay the fine, and can't be forced into slavery, or forfeit property, or have the sentence passed on to her heirs as in the good old days of the Western Empire. Or forced to face trial by ordeal, or any of the other old world methods of justice.

She'll likely face the same original fine with a bump for trial expenses.
