mau: The story is a really good and interesting gedankenexperiment about the second-strike capability of a diesel sub armed with nuke-tipped cruise missiles, even with little to no support.
But the writing is atrocious
. At times unbearable. The most climatic moments are solved in less than one deadpan paragraph, and you feel you've been cheated
. It's begging for a rewrite into a lengthier techno-thriller. Or, at least, the hand of an editor. I think people shouldn't self-publish without hiring an editor to at least take a cursory look.
The upside of this is that it's short and cheap, so yes, worth it.
