And what of this sig picture?
The owner of it obviously is proudly boasting of killing Japanese. He's supporting the mass murder of innocent sailors. He probably wants to drop even more nuclear weapons on them. Because of his display, I must assume that he supports the machine-gunning of survivors in lifeboats.
Either that, or he's proudly displaying the emblem of a warmongering nation that perpetrated a cowardly attack without declaring war, tried to conquer the entire Pacific region, and committed war crimes everywhere they went.
Which is it?
Or maybe we're just displaying images that add a bit of color and immersion to our submarine simulation playing personae? I seriously doubt there are many here who play SH3 just so they can be "playing Nazi wannabe." I'm willing to take a bet that you don't spend your free time running around screaming "Kill the Japs!" and trying to kill any Asian fellows you come across.
Frankly those wars ended quite a long time ago. While there are some that cling to a dead, worthless ideology, their time is past. The longer we treat these symbols as "evil", and ban them, the longer they will hold their power. Treat them as mere symbols, and they will loose that power.
Now, If talesofvalor was posting on a Jewish forum using that signature, I would agree that it was inappropriate. But he's not. He's posting on a message board for people playing a WWII German subsim. The swastika was used by those who manned the u-boats. Not everyone who manned the boats was serving just so they could be good little Nazis for their beloved Adolf. Some probably did. I'm sure many did because they saw it as a way to defend their country from their enemies. Some may have joined because of a family tradition.
As for "German citizens were Naziism's worst victims", I can think of about 12 million people who might disagree with you.
