The french documentary one was very interesting. 2 things caught my attention
- the crew was authorized to drink wine during meals
- the chief medical officer is required before going out to sea to be operated of the apendicitis (of course a 1 time operation). The reason being that in the past, one medical officer had apendicitis during an operational cruise, and had to be evacuated because he could not operate on himself. This required for a second ssbn to be put to sea to continue the "dissuation" since the first sub was going to surface.
Do other navies have a similar requirement for the medical officer ?
