I disagree. Its because of the fans games and movies exist. With out us there is not future for these items.

Sorry, but the Star Wars movies were all seen and paid for mostly by
casual fans of the series IE: people who don't care about the EU. Where do you think these movies get their millions and millions of dollars of income and ticket sales from?
I'm still laughing at the fan nerds to this day who were angry Lucas didn't "insert EU referance here" as if anybody cares about some obscure class of Star Destroyer other than them.
These hardcore series "fans" have convinced themselves they're better at Star Wars then Lucas is and that's just hilarious. Considering 90% of EU writing essentially boils down to "dur jedi/sith wank".
The point of the EU was to expand the universe. But in practice it never does that. What it consistently tries to do is 1up George Lucas. Ohhh Lucas has jedi but look we've get teh BULLET DODGIN Jediz zomg!!! Hey, how else can we ignore continuity with the main series? Rip off the Matrix for bonus points!

Many ideas from fans can help the writers build on a cool story. Editors then can tweak the story better so there isn't soo much techno babble.

What i'm trying to say is that they do the exact opposite. Novels and book series written *never* expand on the universe. They just write "maor jedis".

Also you have modders who make games better. Us fan "modders" want to improve on the basic core game. If your statement was valid what would SH3 be like now? Can you imaging playing with out the mega mods?

You know Wolf, one of these days you should try and interprit something I say
correctly.
