mate, I've been thinking about it, and I've been over every possibility I can think of. But there's only one... explanation for want of a better word!
Look at these images. Oh, wait, let me explain the imagery to you, acoustics weren't your strong point were they, begging your pardon!
*Baggy explains awway to Raptor how the images are made and what the shadows represent*
These here are is of the ocean floor, although the, well, structures are clearly not natural. The symmetry, the layout, sir it looks more to me like a city. No dir, i'm not crazy, though it has been a while since i've seen anything resembling space, or even a bunk..
Look at these sir, they're vast buildings and halls, thats the only explanation for it!!
HMS Thanatus lies on top of what looks like a great temple. If you think about it, it reminds you of the structures so many cultures have used to lay their dead in or make sacrifice upon...even human sacrifices. Now thats not unlikely as it sounds sir, theres an enormous sunken city off the west coast of Japan, theres Alexandria, there's the tale of the city of Atlantis.. Now the layout here sir, that is similar to something I've seen before... Oh yes! there's a pamphlet in my bunk for my planned holiday to Central America, the images are like that! Sure, one ancient city is much like another, but sir, there's no doubting the boat's on a revered or ritualistic site.
Perhaps the Thanatus is here just by chance, but that seems unlikely sir, given the explosions, the monsters...
Who would put the Thanatus on the top of an ancient subterranean alter?
Why would they? As an offering to these foul beasts on board the ship?
Sir, its been a long time since i've been outside this bloody room, you know more about whats going on outside, what do you reckon??
