Weird. I don't see any connection between the controllers that trigger the water stream effects and the texture, and there shouldn't be any either.
Also, the mod does overwrite only those texture files, no config files or something.
I use the "tweaked water streams and exhaust smokes for RFB" mod, that reduces those water streams a bit. This is how the original foofighter's skin looked some time ago for me (didn't take any compareable screenshots since then):
Is there something else tweaked or modded in your installation ?
