This seems rather unusual. I also use TMO and the free camera a lot (F12 brings it up everywhere, not just the bridge by the way
), and Shift-moving is lightning fast for me. I can breach a gap of 1000 yards with the camera in mere seconds.
You might want to consider resintalling the whole thing and making sure that you're using the correct versions of the mod/game.
