I do have fatigue turned off so that cant be it.
I also play D.I.D, but I'm going to forgive myself this time for loading a previous save. Since I was away and Bernard my XO couldnt save our butts.

And I'm pretty sure there are no little islands on my course. I sometimes use the navigator to plot our course, because that's the only way he can hold the course in a storm.
Could it be then that I was possibly detected by a convoy escort? There were no sound contacts when I left for work.
