BTW, is there anything in the radio station that is clickable? Does any of that stuff do anything in the game?

Icons of single units on the map do not come with a radio message. You can intercept them based on the rough speed and course given when you select the icon. But convoys do come with a radio message and with a copy of the information in the message bar. It too gives rough course direction, but comes with a reliable speed.
But if you only get a radiomessage without an icon on the map, you can ignore them as they are for immersion only. There is likely no actual unit there. The message is received just so you know there is a war going on. Most of them don't even have complete information to intercept anyway, like speed and course.
