Yes, if I may skip in, hydrophone/periscope direction PLUS own course. But NOT subtracting the result from 360 degrees. You should subtract 360 from the result (the opposite of what you said), and ONLY subtract the 360 IF the result is BIGGER than 360, since there are only 360 degrees in a circle. Anything beyond that is starting a new lap.
I think the depth at which the hydrophone starts working is about 10m. I don't know what the snorkeldepth is.
