you did the right thing.
i gave a cop a real "gimme" the other day.
joined an on ramp that was controlled by a red light... the officer was right behind me.
i rolled up - stopped - and went on about joining the highway (it was early there was no traffic... and i had never even seen the light)
so basically i treated the light as a stop sign.
that was an easy one for him
obviously an honest mistake though - i mean who is going to intentionally blow a red light sitting right in front of an officer
