I just did some reading and it seems MS pulled DX11 from windows 7. I guess you're right, I thought DX11 was a lot closer.

If DX11 came this year, a lot of users could have made the jump from older DX9 gear to that, but it doesn't seem like that's gonna be possible. Shame.
