Flak Gunner: I'd love to fire him. About 1/2 the time he just sits there while one can reach out and touch the plane looking at us... (Even when set to short range engagement.) What's up with that? My blood pressure can't take it!! I want a sidearm so I can "fire" him!

Sys Crashes: I don't expect an answer - I'm just venting. I can't tell ya how many times in the crew screen (F7) I've gone to switch the crew from attack to cruise mode and clicking on the button kicks me out and kills the game. Gads, I spend half my game time these days saving, saving, saving, saving... sorry... started to regress.

Are there any fixes for accidentally hitting enter? 'Cause when I do, i get really mad and thump it a number of times till all the fish are in the sea and that's not productive.

Thanks gang.
1. When in a patol, hit <ESC>, then select Reset Options

2. Make sure that all the following are true:
  • On the <F7> Crew Screen, the green bar above the flak station is mostly full.
  • On your Watch Officer's Flak Guns menu, Fire at Will is selected, and Target Any Aircraft is selected. (or Target <the type of aircraft attacking you> is selected.)
  • The weather is not too bad to man guns. (If they have their oilskins on, they cannot shoot.)
  • You are not attempting to fire from a lower mounted AA gun while decks are awash.
3. I believe the various cruise mode buttons causing crashes is a stock bug. Don't use those buttons.

4. You can remap the torpedo firing command to another key, or you can disable the enter key. To disable the key, you need to edit the commands file. Do this only while in port. Assuming you are using the English menus, find the Ubisoft folder and open SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg\Commands_en.cfg with Notepad. Find the Entry:

[Cmd313]
Name=Fire_torpedo
Ctxt=1
Key0=0xD

and change the last of these lines to read

Key0=0x0
