I have heard that a lot of "high wing" turbo prop designs like the ATR and the Q400 favor warm flying weather and dont do well in ice.

I have a couple of thousand hours on the SAAB 340 though... that thing is a flying Popsicle... i have proven that a number of times

the only safe ice on an airplane is the ice in the flight attendant's galley cart.
