On my first patrol in the USS Cod in 43' I bagged about 10 ships. Most of which were sunk in the straights between Sulawesi island (The octopus looking one of north of Australia) and Mayalsia/Indo (the island just to the left of Sula) Beatufiul hunting ground for single contacts. Good times.
Radar makes a huge difference to my hunting tactics, makes it easier to id potential targets and close to within hunting range. Being 43' and with only 2 years left to run and my orders taking me no where near major battles I haven't yet encountered a large convoy to put my fish into. Came close to getting sunk near Rabul though, see Patrol stories/reports for the info of that encounter.
