As per the notes above about number of torpedos. I have hit them dead in the middle and depending on if it hits the sides oe explodes from underneath is weither you get a 1 shot kill.
I usually try to get around the front of them by a flanking maneuver and then getting them at a 45 degree angle when i get a lead. I usually pump at least two into a bigger ship. Evan it it doesnt kill them it should slow them down so you cane get another shot or two on it.
It depends as well on where the engines are as well. The mid ship shots are meant to break her back as they say...doesnt always work but sometimes it does wich a satisfying fireworks display.
Dont worry to much about the number of fish you shoot..just dont waiste them. I have layed into a battleship with all forward tubes and hit her solid and she blew after 2-3 shots. Waisting the rest of the fish.
On another note I have hit destryoyers with one shot wich should destroy it and they just turned away and survived. requiring a second fish.
Its all a crap shoot..just sink them no matter the the number.
