Had the same issue with my 7900GTX recently, which is basically the same chip.

These "special effects" occured when I installed the recent 181.20 nvidia driver (there´s already a newer one, but I didn´t test this one), after "downgrading" to 175.19 Forceware (which was installed before) the problem was gone.

I had also defective menu displays from time to time in both GTR2 and GTR Evo.
