here's the funny bit,EVERY time i get at late '42 i can't load a game saved during patrol (the autosave "returning and leaving base" works just fine when loading )
but thats not all. 
after i am transfered to brisbane aus. (begin '43) i can do what i want (sink a lot of ships , complete 2 or more objectives , i even sunk a light cruiser and an isle battleship + completed 3 objectives) i can't end patrol at brisbane  .
so i set course to freemantle and there i can dock and end mission.
here's the pickle , everytime they "mothball" me . career over .
any comments?

If your running patch 1.2 your about a year behind. You can get 1.4 and fix your current problems but I would highly reccomend the U Boat missions (1.5). It fixes a few more things and most of the mods are now 1.5 only and it only cost $10.
