Well, I googled msvcr71.dll, and found several download links. Extracted the new file to my SH3 folder, and started a new career with the 1st Flotilla, 1939. Seems to have fixed my problem.
Unfortunately, when I went to delete my test career I accidentally deleted Fritz Kruger instead...
