Even the mass media hasn't reported anything like convicts making a living deep inside a forest. What do you think motivated them to allow firearms in the first place? Could it be that thing you said that can't happen? The very word you used 'chance' says that you admit it is a possibilty. I've spoken to the people that bad things have happened too. They thought along the your lines didn't need anything because what was the chance? Well they like others found out one day what the chances were first hand. Wife raped & murdered, husband forced to witness it beaten and left for dead., lives ruined foreever. Nothing he could do against overwhelming odds. IT DOES HAPPEN. Though chances are it will not happen to one of us but will you be RESPONSIBLE enought to protect your family if it does? Or will you like the husband just be forced to watch it. JERK
If you don't like the idea then don't carry it's as simple as that.
