Aha! I am having the same problem, but hadn't looked for/posted for an answer yet.
Good point on the battlestations note - I forgot once and suddenly found that every command was "Unable to comply" - turns out the entire crew was asleep from exhaustion! 8 hours sitting still at 120 feet was enough to rest everyone.
