I'm afraid thats very much my reading of it as well,no attempt to rescue crew to gather intelligence or get any intel of the boat.A myth was painted about how the U-boat crews were heartless beasts who would machinegun people in lifeboats and such like,and you'd be supprised how still that myth prevails,yet very little coverage is known of the fate's dealt out to the u-boats crews at the hands of the allies even when trying to surrender
ghastly business.
