I have a special interest in WWII subs, as my father (a merchant sailor) was torpedoed twice by Japanese submarines during the war. Both times the submarine surfaced after the attack and gave the crew food, medicine and warm clothes while they were in the lifeboats. Honorable people, the Japanese. Just goes to show the Japanese understood we are all humans, and all deserve the humane treatment. |
If that story is true it is indeed an anamoly. the Japanese were infamous for their barbaric and inhumane treatment of POW's. They're still quite known for xenophobia as well.
