Thread hijacking
 

Thread hijacking can be a pain in the ass and happens too often in this forum! Some people who do that have an agenda (anti/pro-something), some are simply careless. The former need to keep their bias in check, the latter need to be more careful.

Please always stay on-topic and remember, it always needs at least two people to derail a thread. One who makes an OT remark and another one who replies to it. So if you see a remark that´s totally OT please ignore it or simply inform the poster that this was OT.

If you like you can also report an OT post by clicking the "Report Bad Post" button (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/smartdark/report.gif).

I think that some thread hijacking leads to excellent discussion...there's no reason, however, that such posts couldn't be moved to a new thread by the moderators.

Yep, or instead of hijacking a thread first people could start a new thread when they want to discuss aspects that would be OT in the original thread.

You are both talking about Police Forces so the thread is still on topic. You are just comparing notes.

This will lead to a good topical discussion.

If the thread is about the working conditions of the police force in the UK then it should be ok to mention how the situation is in Spain. It would not be ok to also add "By the way, the police brutality in Spain is very bad, how is the situation in the UK?" because that would turn the discussion into another direction.

Or if a "few" don't think the rest of us should see this topic it can be locked.:yep:
