question

do you require any mods etc to play sh3 on line.

as ive never played online with this game before.
i just play offline.

i have greywolf on my desktop but not installed.

All I can tell you is anyone who wants to join your online game needs to have the same mods as you. In other word, my buds can only join my game if they have GW installed. I use GW. Other than that,the game will drop you if you do not have GW installed.

To answer your question directly, no, you do not need mods. Just make sure everybody playing with you has the same thing.

I just got my CD SH3 in the yesterday, I loaded it quickly, it asked me if I wanted to download some kind of updating program thingy, I wanted to take a sub out so I figure I can do that later. Tried the game right out of the box, it was good, I downloaded the 1.4b patch, but when I trued to load the patch it said there was a error with the Missison.dll file and wouldn’t patch? But so far the game is great!

You need to download the correct patch type.

IIRC there are 4 patches.
UK/US patch for the DVD and for the downloadable version of the game.
So if you bought the game you need the DVD patch. IF you're from the States you go with the US patch and if from europe I believe you should go with the UK patch then.

im an avid sh player offline never tried it online,was just checking the waters.

GW is a good mod,and i like it loads.

seems i may have to find my own flottila to create,and allow others to join.
