New baby is ready--New comp
Well been away for quite some time, after melting down my old rig, playing Oblivion!!
So I decided to build me a rig, that would NOT sweat playing the most graphical intensive games out on the market, okay I know that SH3 isn't Graphically that intensive, but was a real big CPU hog. Anyways, I'm in the process of installing SH3 again with GW, plus some other fav mods and expect this new rig to NOT even break a sweat. Playing Oblivion full on at 1280*1024 (new viewsonic VX922 TFT that rocks), and this rig gives me 60fps even when in the forests east of Chorrol if anyone else plays this game will know this area on the map is a REAL fps killer. Looking forward to playing SH3 again, and see that some really good mods have come up the pipe line. Anyways here she is:Added the writers and chassis, so you have the complete unit Asus M2N32 SLi Delux MoBo AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Skt AM2 Thermaltake Mini typhoon CPU Cooler 2 Gig Geil(2X1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency 2X WD Caviar 250 gig Sata II 16 meg cache HD's (Raid Striped) 2X Geforce 7900 GTX 512 DDR3:SLi Configured Creative X-fi Fatality FPS sound card Enermax Liberty 620W Modular Sli PSU 19" Viewsonic VX922 2ms TFT@1280*1040 Plextor PX 760A DVD RW X2 Antec P180B Chassis |
:o
... I just bought a new vga (7600GS 256MB PCI-E) and I thoght my pc was powerfull :o:o:o |
He He thanks Sulikate, this rig has to last at least two years, untill
1 Geforce 8800GTX has come down in price(The new DX10 card) which will need at least 350-400w power just for the card, onboard cooling is watercooled as standard with some semi passive fan cooling, first releases will be Late Nov this year and is backward compatible DX9, so some people I know are going to buy right off.  2 Windows Vista SP2 has been released...LOL |
Sounds like winner! Why not a dual core processor? I hear it really does not help games. One core works 1/2 the computer and the other 1/2 works process or something. What have you read about the dual core?
|
Correct in dual core processing, I also do alot of photo editing so this was the best option, I did actually nearly go for the new Intel Conroe CPU, but it's not slated in the fabrication process to have HT untill next Jan-Feb, plus I have always liked how AMD chips handle games any way's. All my friends have AMD Skt 939 or AM2 and it seemed the right thing to do, plus the AM2 runs alot cooler than the 939's, so with the Typhoon at idle temp I get 39 Degree C and at full stress level tested with Ntune I'm getting 51-53 Deg C. Not bad at all :yep: :yep: And with 2 7900 GTX totalling 1 gig of ddr3 Ram I'm not that concerned with cpu usage plus the Ram (Geil) elevates any bottle necking

May I ask how much it cost you to put this dream machine together? |
Yep not at all, most parts were bought from a company called Overclockers UK, which by the way have a great support team and after sales, my first PSU from Enermax blew its lid!!!! OcUK replaced with no fuss what so ever, very unusual for such a PSU to let go, but hey things happen.:damn:
Other components were sourced from Novatech Supplies and E-bay, everything is new and warrantied Total cost, a staggering (Gulp).....£1670, and that's cheap !!!! I kinda copied one of OcUK's own dual 7900 GTX rigs with commensurate parts, mine having slightly better CPU and PSU plus the non stock cooling, I also added two more fans@120mm on the chassis so thats totals 5 fans...Bloody nice n' cool in there. There rig was priced at a staggering £2200 prebuilt by themselves, thought I could do better by getting everything myself and building. So I don't have a RTB warranty, just the component manufacturer's warranties, I also got some great deals from OcUk for the amount of money I was spending with them!!!!!:yep: |

If you don't mind me asking what was the $$$$$:hmm:

Sounds like a great rig Deep6. I've tucked your specs away to contemplate on until I build my new one. I'm only wondering what the new GFX cards will be like for DX10.

I just built one myself:
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe M/B AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 (2.8GHz) Dual Core Processor, Socket AM2 - 2 x 1Gb L2 Cache 2Gb DDR2 PC5300 at 667Mhz (2 x 1GB) WD Raptor Series 74Gb Serial ATA-150, 10000RPM, 16Mb 1 x ATI Radeon X1950 XTX, 512Mb, GDDR4 Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Quiet CM 600W EPS/SLI Power Supply Samsung 204B 20.1" LCD, Black - 1600 x 1200, 5ms Sony 16x Dual Layer 16x DVD+/-RW Recorder & Nero Software Quiet Black Antec TITAN Tower Case :|\\ |
I am going join this off-top and say that my new 20" wide-screen Benq rules. Unfortunately, SHiii can't be played in wide-screen mode :(
|
Yes, and my Bose Aucoustimass 5.1 Speaker System with Active Sub Woofer the size fo a coffee table really racks up the decibel count....unfortunately, SHIII has old fashioned stereo sound :-(
|
Good on ya Deep Six! All set for SH4 and beyond, I have an Asus A8V Deluxe with AMD 64 3700+, not quite as good as yours but still very happy with Asus boards & VIA!
Cheers. |
