HELP can't install any of the patches for silent hunter 3
 

I have recently bought a brand new retail copy of the Silent hunter 3 but after i install and try to add the latest patch it give me errors saying cannot create file C:/program files/data/...... and that i should start again have done this 20 time and no joy. can any body help.
P.S i have the right patch - the U.K DVD one.

I would dowload and install the other patch; perhaps you have the US DVD

Still no joy. want to start adding enhancement to it but cant untill ive updated.

What does the whole error say.

I get this sometimes when reinstall SH3. IT will say someting about the en_menu or Uboat21.dat is blah blah. So the patching cannot continue. I found removing the file its complaining about in my SH3 game folder to somewhere else or renaming it, then restarting the patching solves this.

Thanks, BUT..... when i try to move the files it tell sme that the disk is right protected of the disk is full - which its not. Think the game is dodgy or im just really gash. Can anyone else help????

I have no clue on how to do this. I suggest you contact support at Ubisoft.

Are you sure you didn't buy a pirated version?

Make sure the install pathway is correct. It could be looking to install it via C:/program files when it actually needs the pathway C:/Program Files. It's a big difference and will kill any attempt to install..... anything else too. Right click My Computer and check the pathway to be sure. You can then fix it when you try the patch install again.


Or if you're lucky, you have the wrong patch, as Fxn says.

I think you will find you may have been sold a pirated copy of the game :cry: .. Did you buy this on ebay by anychance? As that place is running rampant with pirated software. Even pirated Nintendo game cartridges of all things.

I know if you try to update SH3 that has been released by another entity other than Ubisoft you will get this error.

Or this error will happen if you are using the wrong no cd patch on the game.

Think ive got a pirate copy!
 

How can I check weather the games a pirate? Its got all the correct cd key and came sealed - so a v convincing fake.

Or how can i tell wether it came from somewhere else.

Also when i try to move files its says i dont have permission - i changed my regedit and gave me self permission and then tried to change it from read only and still no joy. Im might have to admit defeat.

Thanks to all who posted ideas - the problem is solved, I un-installed it and reinstalled it to the C: not Program files and bingo!
