Your suggestion for Historical Single Missions

Ok, which historical situations would you feel should be included as Historical Single Missions in SH4? List the sub, skipper, and what went down, and feel free to add any ideas on setting up the mission, radio messages, etc.

Here's where we find out who knows their Pacific sub history! ;)

Wahoo's recon of Wewak. (Morton)

S-44 and Kako (oops, no S-boats)

Sealion and Kongo (Reich)

Darter and Dace in Palawan passage against Kurita's center force (Mclintock and Clagett)

Archerfish and Shinano (Enright)

Cavalla (Kossler) and Shokaku or Albacore (Blanchard) and Taiho

Harder and destroyers (Dealy)

Lingayen Gulf/Japanese invasion December '41.

Just a few ideas.

Good!! Keep them coming. :ping:

Ill go with the Albacore. The Cavalla had a TDC breakdown and only one fish out of six hit(a lucky hit though).

Anything that doesnt involve sailing your sub 50meters forward and having your target sail directly across your path. It needs to be more Dynamic, where the target ship will not always be on the exact same path with the exact same course.
They should make them more interesting, involving searching for your target, infiltrating a port or base to take out a certain ship which may leave port on occasion causing you to come across it on the way in.
The single missions in SH3 were pretty lame so it doesnt matter what "Targets" we get if they are just going to sail in front reliably.
Also they should not all be *Quick* missions, some could be as long as a standard patrol.

I'd like to see a "Mission Maker" like the ones in SHI and SHII; the ones where you select all the mission parameters just to practice with.

Like in MP?

For pure gunfire drama I'd go with the Salmon's life or death battle versus 4 Japanese frigates on October 30th, 1944. The only known instance in the war in which a submarine fought it out on the surface with deck guns against escorts, seriously disabled one of them and got away.

I think you got it backwards, mate.

"Torpedo the Indianapolis" but we will need a jap sub for that....oh well

Taking a leaf from the original game (Silent Service), how about a Single Patrol option?

bookworm_020 10-08-06 10:31 PM

Tang and Turk Atoll (O'Kane) Rescue pilots and some shore bombardment thrown in to boot!

Wahoo V Destroyers (Morton) "Destoyers gunning, Wahoo running!"

Halibut under depthcharge attack, November 1944 (Galatin) Convoy attack with the longest depthcharge attack on a US Sub which suvived. (250 Depth charges! The Hull so so damaged it was bent inward:o)
