GW Harbor Hunting Grounds

Ok I have been useing GW for a while now and have mastered sliping in and out of Scapa and just about every British port not on the English Channel. So its Jan 1st of '40 and I'm wondering what ports give good kills.
(If this helps: I run GW with the Kids Mod and a one hit torpedo/flak/DG mod. My boat is a XXI with T5's in all the tubes)

If you want a hard one, try one of the harbors just SE of freetown. I vaugley remember one of them being a relativly tough nut to crack. At least, not without wasting some torpedo's on a tin can or two.

If you want fish in a barrel, fat ones at that, curraco in the carribean is a great place.

If you want a free warship on a silver plater, i forget the islands name, but its in the south atlantic. NW of capetown.

havent tried it, ( I have this aversion to long stretchs of shallow water), but i hear theres at least one liner in New York harbor., although you'll have to wait tell 42 for that.

I think the island you're thinking of is Saint Helena and I found one Destroyer and a decent number of small and large merchants along with three fishing boats last night. And you're right the Destroyer
had its stern faceing me and was dead in the water a real silver plater

Hmmm my bad i think i got my mods confused. The warship im thinking of was a light cruiser, at least a 10,000 tonner, and i was probably playing UC vanilla at the time now that i think of it. But your right, St Helena.

edit:

If you want a few other tough nuts to crack, try the harbors in the gulf of mexico. Infact with the exception of curaco and one other harbor on a small island whos name escapes me, there all fairly well protected.

Ships docked in freetown are fairely well protected to. I think theres a liner or troopship in there that you dont have clear shot on.

Hopefully im not getting my mods confused again. Its easy to do, GW11a is based on UC vanilla, but it did have several changes in its development. (IE light cruiser replaced with destroyer in the case of St Helena)

Not quite harbour bashing but close Grid ED98 park your boat at the mouth of the inlet I think it's only 30M deep SE of Port of Spain FROM 42-Oct43 a convoy passes through the point every 72 hrs convoy consists of mainly troop transports and a p liner escorted by about 6-7DD various types tribal to Fletcher class and a couple of cruisers air cover is high and the game spawns every 24hrs a huntII and a Clemson.
Now that's an intresting situation try taking the convoy out without moving.(well most of it)

One reason i love the caribean is shipping is a bit more predicatble, and your able to 2nd guess shipping routes after awhile. One of my favorite areas is just east of Guantanimo between cuba and Haiti
